2 0 1 Zero density heavy quark SU ( 2 ) gauge theory and the Stefan - Boltzmann limit

چکیده
SU(2) lattice gauge theory is investigated where the traces of the Wilson lines at any lattice point and along each direction is constrained to zero. Hence, each of the lattice configurations possesses a vanishing density of heavy (anti-) quarks. The results are compared with those of pure SU(2) gauge theory which can be interpreted as the grand canonical realization of the heavy quark theory where only the ensemble average of the heavy quark density vanishes. The static quark anti-quark potential of the constrained theory is obtained from (spatially smeared) Wilson loops at zero temperature. We find that the potential coincides with that of pure SU(2) gauge theory (without constraints). Hence, the familiar "running" of the lattice spacing with β is recovered.

Heavy quark induced effective action for gauge fields in the SU (N c) ⊗ U (1) model and the low-energy structure of heavy quark current correlators Abstract We calculate the low-energy limit of heavy quark current correlators within an expansion in the inverse heavy quark mass. The induced low-energy currents built from the gluon fields corresponding to the initial heavy quark currents are obta...

The DESY-Swansea Collaboration performed numerical simulations investigating SU(2) lattice gauge theory at non-zero chemical potential with one staggered quark flavour in the adjoint representation. This lattice model has similar features to QCD itself and its study gives interesting insights into some open problems of high density quark matter. In particular the rôle of the " sign problem " ca...

Heavy ion experiments are still unable to produce QCD matter that is dense and hot enough to reveal an explicit evidence in favor of the presence of quark-gluon plasma. However, a prolonged intermediate period before hadronisation may give some indirect information about the transient initial stage. The common feature of non-Abelian gauge theories is that the static potential between matter sou...

We study SU(2) lattice gauge theory with two flavors of Wilson fermion at non-zero chemical potential μ and low temperature on a 8 × 16 system. We identify three régimes along the μ-axis. For μ . mπ/2 the system remains in the vacuum phase, and all physical observables considered remain essentially unchanged. The intermediate régime is characterised by a non-zero diquark condensate and an assoc...
متن کاملChiral Symmetry Restoration and the Georgi Vector Limit
The chiral phase transition at high temperature and/or density is interpreted in terms of Georgi’s vector limit. We discuss three cases as possible support for this scenario: Quark-number susceptibility, cool kaons in heavy-ion process and an instanton-molecule picture for chiral restoration. Both the notion of “mended symmetry” and the Georgi vector limit are suggested to be relevant in nuclea...
